What KilowattBros is
KilowattBros is a lead referral and matching service. We connect homeowners who need electrical work with independent, licensed electrical contractors.
We are not an electrical contractor. We are not licensed to perform electrical work and we do not perform it. We do not provide estimates, quote prices, supervise projects, inspect work, or employ the electricians you are matched with.
What the contractor is responsible for
Everything about the actual job. The contractor you are matched with is an independent business, solely responsible for:
- Holding and maintaining the required licenses and insurance
- Pricing, quoting, scheduling, and completing the work
- Obtaining permits and arranging inspections
- The safety, quality, and code compliance of the work performed
- Any warranty or guarantee offered on that work
- Resolving any dispute about the work with you directly
Your agreement for the work is between you and the contractor. KilowattBros is not a party to it.
Verify before work begins
Illinois licenses electrical contractors at municipal rather than state level. Before any work starts, you should ask the contractor for their license number and certificate of insurance, and confirm the license with your village or city building department. You are entitled to ask, and a contractor who is reluctant to answer is telling you something worth knowing.
About the information on this site
Cost figures on this site are typical market ranges for planning purposes. They are not quotes, not offers, and not a promise of what you will be charged. Only a licensed electrician who has seen your home can price your job.
Code, permit, and utility information is provided as general guidance and reflects our understanding at the time of writing. Municipalities adopt code editions on their own schedules and change fees and procedures without notice. Always confirm current requirements with your building department. Do not rely on this website in place of professional advice.
Nothing on this site is an instruction to perform electrical work yourself. Residential electrical work carries a genuine risk of fire, injury, and death, and much of it may not be legally performed without a license.
Using the form honestly
When you submit a request you confirm that the information is accurate, that the phone number is yours or that you are authorised to provide it, and that you are at least 18. Do not submit requests on behalf of someone who has not asked you to.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KilowattBros is not liable for any loss or damage arising out of work performed by a contractor, the conduct of any contractor, or reliance on information published on this site. We do not guarantee the availability, performance, or suitability of any contractor.
This site is provided on an “as is” basis without warranties of any kind.
Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.
